Professional Senior Summer Intensive Program

Dance Theatre of Tennessee (DTT), Middle Tennessee’s newest force in dance and performance offers a comprehensive Summer Intensive from June 18 – July 20, 2012. DTT’s Summer Intensive program provides 2, 3 and 5 week sessions for serious students ages 12 -22.

The Summer Intensive is a concentrated course designed to provide students with a deeper understanding of professional dance technique while enhancing their overall artistry. The 2 and 3-week program emphasizes the development and strengthening of proper technique. Those students who enroll in the full 5-week session will be offered performance and audition opportunities, as well. Artistic Director Christopher Mohnani and Artistic Associate Elaine Thomas, along with the assistance of internationally/nationally recognized guest teachers offer superior training with relentless attention to detail.

Emphasis is placed on instilling both positive encouragement and real world experience.

Junior Summer Intensive Program

Our Junior Intensive is a concentrated fast track program highlighting our regular class offerings. Offered in both the Elementary (ages 8-11) and Intermediate (ages 12-15) levels, students are offered a chance to experience a dancer’s professional life. Call it a “ballet boot-camp” as students are given world-class instruction in Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, and Musical Theater.

A short in-studio sneak peek at the end of each session highlights this wonderful intensive.

Elementary Level ages 8 – 11
Intermediate Level ages 12 – 15
Session 1 June 11 – 22
Session 2 July 9 – 20
Each session meets Monday through Friday, from 5:00pm – 8:00pm.

Tutus & Tiaras Tiny Tots Program

The Academy offers young children a chance to live their fairytale dreams. Children ages 3 to 5 will take an age appropriate ballet class, create ballet-oriented crafts and discover how ballet dancers tell stories with pantomime. During these classes, the children will discover the magical stories of fairy tale ballets such as Cinderella, The Sleeping Beauty, and other time-honored classics. At the end of the week, the parents are invited to observe their children in small performance.

Choice of either morning (9:00am – 12:00pm) or afternoon (1:00pm – 4:00pm) sessions or both.

Tutus & Tiaras will be held Mondays through Fridays at the following times:

Performing Arts and Dance Discovery Program

The Academy offers children age 6 – 8 a full day arts immersion program. Children will discover the many joys and beauty that dance and performing arts offer. From learning different styles of dance, arts and crafts, story telling, acting and music, young children will have a chance to experience the life of a young artist. The Program is offered in two 3-week sessions. Participants will also have the option of doing just one or two weeks. At the end of each session, the parents are invited to observe their children in small performance.
