Hi, Terry. Unfortunately we haven’t had the opportunity to review the most recent model so we can’t speak to the versatility of the bracelet. We recommend reaching out to Hamilton directly or perhaps another reader can chime in here. Thanks for reading!

However the more recent H69439931 does come with a bracelet option where I would like to know if the bracelet from this watch is compatible with the H69419933.

My Oris Big Crown is rated for 5ATM and has screw down crown and I won’t go swimming with it. My minimum for swimming with a watch is both 10ATM and screw down crown. I wouldn’t swim with the Hamilton Auto with 10ATM WR because it’s not screw down either. That’s too risky.

I think not living up to the depth rating is a Hamilton trait. I have a 50m Timex expedition that was my daily for a dozen years that went in the water thousands of times with no problem.

Just to correct this incorrect and oft repeated statement: the H50 IS NOT based upon the Powermatic (of which there are variations), but is based on the ETA C07.701.The Powermatics are based upon the C07.111/651/811. Some Powermatics (not all) utilise composite parts, the 811 for example has a Silicium hair spring and balance spring. The H50 on the other hand, does not use any composite or plastic parts.

I bought my first Hamilton Khaki from Jomashop for $200 with the idea that if something happened it would end up not being serviced since replacing or servicing the movement is the cost of the watch. I would just buy another newer Hamilton and sell the old one on eBay as parts for $150.

The change from ETA to the Hamilton Calibre H-50 is huge. Gaining 15 seconds per day is while I rarely wear the older version.

Yesterday morning while winding, instead of it stopping at “full wind” something popped and now it’s dead. Took it in and the estimate is $275 to repair it. Now I have to anguish over whether or not it’s worth spending almost $300 to fix a $500 watch. So much for mechanical watches outliving quartz.

They’re both great watches. The kind that could go anywhere, no worries.
And their quality, for the price, is unbeatable.
