Oliver Cabell Review

While I’m not against men wearing jewelry, until recently I had never really worn jewelry myself.

I was interested in trying out a gold chain to see if I’d like the look and the vibe. After doing some research, I thought Oliver Cabell would be a great brand to try.

Quick Take

Oliver Cabell is a great brand, and unsurprisingly, their direct-to-consumer business model allows them to sell high-quality jewelry for a very reasonable price.

Pros

  • The products are high-quality and the price is very reasonable
  • They have great color options for the Cameron Cord bracelet and great size options for the Cuban chain necklaces

Cons

  • The Michael Cable bracelet’s clasp is difficult to operate on your own (you’ll probably need an extra pair of hands to get the bracelet on and off)

About Oliver Cabell

Oliver Cabell was founded in England but is now based in New York City. They have a direct-to-consumer business model which means that they’re able to use very high-quality materials (think ethically sourced Italian leather), yet sell their products for a low price.

They’re mostly known for their footwear, and for good reason! We’re big fans of their shoes and have reviewed their Low 1, Distressed Low 1, and Chelsea boots.

Their shoes are great, but this review is all about their jewelry.

I had been wanting to try wearing a gold chain so when I heard that Oliver Cabell sells jewelry, I was on board!

What I Tried

I tried two Cuban chains and two different styles of bracelets from Oliver Cabell:

  • 2mm Cuban Chain Necklace
  • 3mm Cuban Chain Necklace
  • Cameron Cord Bracelet
  • Michael Cable Bracelet

Let’s get to the review!

2mm Cuban Chain Necklace

The 18k 2mm Cuban Chain is definitely my favorite of the two necklaces I tried. The size is subtle and minimal, yet it’s just visible enough to add intrigue to a casual outfit. I wouldn’t even call it understated, I’d say it’s just the right amount of statement!

The chain is sturdy, and the clasp is easy enough to operate. I definitely trust the quality. It’s made in Italy, and while it is gold-plated rather than solid gold, it has 3-5 times more gold than normal gold-plated jewelry.

This chain is waterproof, so feel free to wear it to the beach or to the gym.

If you want to try a subtle gold chain that you can wear daily, this is the one! If you want something even more subtle, you can opt for their 1.4mm version.

3mm Cuban Chain Necklace

The 3mm Cuban Chain has the same build quality and features as the 2mm version, but it’s larger.

When I think of 2mm vs 3mm, it doesn’t seem like there’d be a big difference, but these necklaces prove me wrong!

The 3mm version looks substantially larger than the 2mm. It’s not huge, but it definitely makes more of a statement than the 2mm.

If you want something bolder than the 2mm, go with the 3mm. It’s noticeable but not gaudy.

Michael Cable Bracelet

The Michael Cable bracelet has a really interesting look. It’s made of several thin cables of gold that are all twisted together.

I really like the size of it too. It’s not garish at all. It’s quite subtle and has a classy air to it.

My wrists are 6.25″ and it fits well. Oliver Cabell‘s product description says that it fits wrists up to 7.5″ so keep that in mind!

You might want to measure your wrists before buying.

The one big con that comes to mind with this bracelet is that it’s difficult to get on and off. It has a screw clasp that’s extremely difficult to operate with one hand.

You’ll most likely need help getting it on and off.

Cameron Cord Bracelet

The Cameron Cord bracelet is a really nice offering from Oliver Cabell. It’s undeniably casual, yet the 14k gold push closure and tips elevate it above similar bracelets.

You get the cool, rugged look of the cord plus an elegant touch from the gold. What’s not to love?!

These bracelets come in several colors (olive is my favorite) and can be purchased individually or in packs of three, four, and seven.

My Recommendation

Overall, you really can’t go wrong with any of the jewelry options from Oliver Cabell. Just like with their shoes, you’re getting high-quality and ethically made products for a reasonable price.

If you’re looking into getting the Michael Cable bracelet, note that the screw closure is difficult to operate alone. Other than that, have at it! If you like the style of any of the products, I wholeheartedly recommend buying them.

IDK, I wanted to buy the Michael cable bracelet, but there is absolutely no information on this product. They claim it to be gold – how many K? What is the circumference of it? (fits up to 7.5 inch wrists doesn’t say much) and on top of that, 99.9% of the reviews are 5 stars…smells fishy to me.

Hey Ariel, that’s a fair point! It feels like a high-quality bracelet to me, but it might be worth reaching out to the brand to ask about the gold content and the exact size.
