Jay Butler Review: Stylish Shoes In All Sizes

Published on June 15, 2015 by Brock McGoff · Product Reviews, Shoes

I’m excited to review a brand called Jay Butler. It was created by a fellow menswear enthusiast named Justin Jeffers.

Jay Butler Review

Jay Butler logoJustin is known for his somewhat aggressive tastes (red velvet jacket, anyone?) and his unapologetically bad grammar.

But he really knows his stuff when it comes to menswear. I especially like his product reviews, which tend to be very detailed and honest.

Before I try a new made-to-measure suit company, for example, I always check to see if Justin has reviewed them.

I was excited when Justin told me he was launching his own brand. He’s a shoe snob who has an unhealthy obsession with loafers, and Jay Butler reflects this.

I’ll share my thoughts about JB in minute, but first take a look at the shoes:

If you can’t tell, I get a little carried away during these “photo shoots”. What can I say, guess I have a thing for suede…

Why do I think you’ll like Jay Butler? It comes down to these three reasons:

Reason #1: Reasonable Prices

If you’re looking to spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars on shoes, there are plenty of ways to do that. But for most of us, price matters.

Jay Butler Shipley brown suedeJay Butler loafers start at $145, which is very reasonable, especially for shoes with Blake construction and hand-stitched uppers.

Plus, shipping and returns are free.

Reason #2: Small Sizes

Ever fall in love with a pair of shoes, only to discover that it’s not available in your size? I wear a men’s 7 (US) is most brands, and this happens to me all the time.

Jay Butler uses a unisex sizing system that goes from 4 to 14.

Reason #3: Stylish Loafers

Every man should have at least one pair of comfortable, stylish loafers in his wardrobe.

They’re a step up from boat shoes, and they can be dressed up or down.

These brown suede Shipley Tie loafers are perfect for spring, summer or fall. I’ve mostly been wearing them sockless (or with no show socks) with chinos or shorts.

Jay Butler also offers slightly more casual or dressy loafers if that’s what you need.

Quick Disclaimer: I’ve been wearing these loafers for a couple of months now, and they’ve held up just fine so far. I haven’t worn them enough to know how they’ll hold up over time.

Bottom Line

If you need some good looking loafers, and you don’t want to break the bank, check out Jay Butler.

Check out Jay Butler, then leave a comment saying which style you like best!

I was super excited to find out about Jay Butler loafers, and was finishing the purchasing process online when I discovered that it costs $85 to ship to Canada! Do you know if this is still the case, or if this has changed? I definitely want to support this company making great shoes in a wide range of sizes, but the extra $85 for shipping takes it out of my price range.

Hmm not sure why that would be so high. I’ll ask Justin to chime in here.

      Nik,
Thank you for your interest in Jay Butler. Shipping to Canada for one pair is $50 and 2 pair is $75. At one point I think our international shipping rates were that high but we’ve been working with different carriers to lower them. I apologize for the confusion, I’ve checked over our site and it doesn’t mention $85 anywhere, but if you saw that on our site, please let me know. If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask below or send me an email at [email protected].
