Great article. Just one question… My skin always feels tight after I cleanse it. What am I doing wrong? Am I scrubbing too hard? Am I using too much cleanser? Am I scrubbing for too long? How do you remove the excess oil without removing ALL essential oils?

Hi Pat – In grooming, like many things in life, you really do get what you pay for. Anything you buy at the drugstore will honestly be crap. We every once in awhile run promotions and some of our more price conscious customers wait until them to buy products. The downfall is that we don’t run them often and you may run out of product before we run another. If someone is budget constrained, I tell them to spend high on the areas they’re most concerned about (face, hair, shave, etc) and for everything else go to Wholefoods, which has some decent products. Hope that helps.

Does anyone have product recommendations for a more budget-constrained guy? The Brickell products look fantastic, but I can’t afford to be spending $30-40 per bottle/can/whatever.

In reply to Jason. Jason - That sounds like a solid routine! If you ever notice any face dryness or irritation, I'd suggest using a regular face wash 3-4x a week and only using the scrub 2-3x.

I use clean and clear (has exfoliant) at night. And just wash my face in the shower in the morning.
I also use a moisturizer with SPF daily.

Hey Josh – I agree! The cool thing about exfoliating is that it kills two birds with one stone – it clears up the complexion and makes shaving much easier. Nice site btw!

I think exfoliating is probably the biggest missed opportunity in men's skincare regimes, and I'll admit I'm guilty on occasion, but can definitely tell a HUGE difference when I'm sure to include it at least once a week. Josh - The Kentucky Gent http://thekentuckygent.com
