15 Haircuts for Men With Straight Hair: Timeless, Not Boring

Updated on April 21, 2025 by Karlton Miko Tyack · Men's Hairstyles

Men’s straight hair haircuts can be professional and classic but also interesting and dimensional. Don’t let our curly- and textured-headed brothers have all the fun.

When it comes to hairstyle guides, straight locks often get left out of the equation. This is likely because they’re often easier to deal with than curly or highly textured hair. This isn’t always the case, though. Not everyone’s straight hair just lands in place beautifully. And even if yours does, you might want to try something new every so often. So, I’m here to help. I’ve rounded up the best haircuts for men with straight hair.

Whether you’re looking to juje up your current cut or try something completely different, I’ve represented a wide range of styles and hair types. Even more, some of these cuts don’t even require much styling.

15 Best Haircuts for Men With Straight Hair

I’ve organized the best haircuts for men with straight hair into three categories. This way, you can just go straight to the one that applies to you. We’ll start with short styles and then move on to long styles. Then, I’ll give you some suggestions for much thicker hair since I know that can require some extra attention.

Short Haircut Styles for Men With Straight Hair

Let’s start with short haircut styles for men with straight hair. You may not have as much to work with as the following categories. However, there’s actually a lot you can do with even the shortest locks. And in my opinion, they’re easier to maintain than long hair. Convenience is always a plus in my book.

Textured French Crop

There’s actually a lot you can do with a French crop. You can go extra short, cut the fringe, and go for a clean Caesar. Or, you can do short, messy bangs and add a lot of texture to the top. You can do this with pomade or sea salt spray. Since it’s still so short, it doesn’t look sloppy, and you can wear it casually or professionally. Textured haircuts are a nice cheat code to inject some dimension into even the shortest styles.

Classic Buzz Cut

A buzz cut is likely the most convenient, easy-to-maintain haircut of all time. This is especially so if your hair doesn’t grow that fast. Technically, a buzz cut is a close-to-scalp style that’s the same extra-short length all around. However, if you add just a slight fade close to the ears and towards your neck, you still get the buzz effect with a touch of character.

High and Tight

A high and tight haircut is trending among men of all hair types. And yet, there’s something classic about it these days, too. It’s clean, easy, and the short island of hair up top needs little styling. It’s certainly a go-to cut for many Hollywood celebrities and style icons in the modern day.

Short Quiff

You really can’t go wrong with a short quiff, especially if you have straight hair. This haircut for straight hair men is incredibly versatile. You can combine it with a high and tight taper, a zero fade, or a more gradient-looking fade. All you need to do to achieve the quiff is brush your fringe up, then back, neatly keeping everything in place. Moreover, it suits most face shapes.

The Ivy League

The Ivy League was the go-to good boy cut in the 1950s. It’s basically a medium-length crew cut that can be styled to add a side part and personalized fringe. It’s like a cleaner, shorter side sweep. I like that it combines the classic dapperness of the side sweep but in a format that’s easier to maintain and style.

Modern Faux Hawk

With short hair, a faux hawk doesn’t have to be so dramatic or akin to aughts-era indie punk. Of course, if that’s the direction you want to go, just make the center sharper and cleaner to create an obvious contrast with the patted-down sides. Otherwise, you can choose a more moderate, textured, gradual center.

Modern Spikes

A short and spiky cut can look more like an everyday style and less like a statement. It’s similar to a short faux hawk in that sense. Just keep the spikes less defined and more natural-looking. Think blades of grass over soccer cleats. It’ll end up just looking like a slightly rebellious, textured quiff. It’s surprisingly versatile.

Long Straight Hair Men’s Hairstyles

I know that some people think that longer hair is a lot more work compared to other hair lengths. Sure, there’s less actual hair with short and medium cuts. With just a bit of effort, you can do fun, interesting looks with long, straight hair men’s hairstyles.

You’d also be surprised at how clean and dapper long hair can be. Of course, there are also some effortless-looking options too.

Long Quiff

There are two ways to achieve the long quiff. First, you can buzz the sides for a dramatic look and keep the back long. The latter will result in a more modern, dapper take on the mullet. Just make sure you neatly comb the back so it’s not hanging flat. Or, you can keep the sides the same length and comb them back.

Long Pompadour

The long pompadour is definitely a statement cut. It would look excellent at a vintage-style party with a zoot suit. Since the pompadour is all about volume and length, long, straight hair is absolutely conducive to it. It’s not for everyone, but I wanted to ensure you vintage lovers and peacocks have a few options!

Effortless and Beachy

Even if you can’t dip your hair into the ocean every morning, a little sea salt spray can go a long way. Part your hair where you wish, then with slightly wet hair, just add your product. Don’t spend too much time on it, though. The point is to look effortless and ensure your hair has a lot of movement.

Voluminous and Parted

Achieving this look requires blow drying. Here are a few tips: Run some leave-in conditioner throughout your hair, especially in the area you plan to part it. Then, add just a little bit of oil to the tips. From there, you’ll blow dry your hair as you comb and run your fingers through it until you get your desired volume. Then, blow dry the hair part in place with the assistance of a bit of hair spray.

The Thor

This easy cut will channel your inner Viking (or your inner Jason Momoa). It’s like a more structured beachy wave. You might use a bit of gel, pomade, or hair oil over sea salt spray. If you’re so bold, feel free to add Viking braids or a half-man bun.

Men’s Haircuts for Thick Straight Hair

Parting hair to left

Here is a collection of men’s haircuts for thick, straight hair. Typically, when your hair is straight and thick, it means you have a lot of it. It’s unlike curly hair, where the tendrils create space and volume between the hairs. As such, thick hair can be a handful (literally). These styles can tame your thick hair while also giving it structure and intention.

Voluminous Classic Side Part

I know trying to add a part to extra thick, short hair can be daunting. As someone with thick hair, I often just want to comb it back and call it a day. However, adding a part adds structure. And it can be messy, with the fringe hanging out a bit, or professional, with the fringe kept right in place.

Thick and Textured

A post shared by Men’s Hairstyles (@mens.hairstyles)

This isn’t an exact cut, but it’s a strategy you can apply to most of the above styles. One problem with thick, straight hair? When you comb it in place, it can sometimes look like one solid block. Have you ever heard the phrase “helmet head”? Add textured by using product. Or, after you’ve combed your hair back, cleanly run your fingers through it while gently shaking your hand.

Brushed High

To get this look, brush your hair up as high as possible, then let it fall to the side. You may need assistance from hairspray and a blow dryer. This combines the clean look of a conservative side sweep with the volume of a quiff and, of course, lots of texture. It’s traditional but not stuffy.

FAQs

Do you still have questions regarding straight hair styles for men? Here are some of the most common.

What Is the Best Haircut for a Straight Hair Male?

There isn’t one best haircut for men with straight hair. The classic side part is easy and looks great on everyone. However, you can also go for something more textured, longer and beachy, or even a close-to-scalp French crop.

Which Fade Is Good for Straight Hair?

You can do any fade with straight hair. I think that a low tapered fade is the best because it matches more subtle styles and cuts, but also complements and tempers highly textured and messy looks.

Can I Make My Straight Hair Curly?

Yes, you can use a curling iron or curling products, such as frizzing creams and curling Moroccan oil. If you opt for heat, ensure you have a good leave-in conditioner and maintenance oils to not damage your hair.

Conclusion: The Best Hairstyles for Men With Straight Hair for You

Now that you have options for haircuts for men with straight hair try one out! Or, try a few and see how you like them. Straight hair doesn’t have to lack texture or dimension. You’d be surprised at how much just a little hair product can do for all hair types, especially straight hair. It can go from flat to having a lot of bounce.

Making your straight hair more exciting is a matter of choosing the right cut and style.
