Indian Men’s Hairstyles: Cool Looks for Your Unique Texture

Updated on April 29, 2025 by Karlton Miko Tyack · Men's Hairstyles

There’s a wide range of excellent Indian hairstyles for men to consider. Even those not of Indian descent may be blessed with thick, dark, or textured hair. These styles could still apply.

Indian men and men of Indian descent from around the world have a range of hair types. Many have enviably thick hair with an onyx, Cary-Grant-esque hue. Many also have straight hair, or oily and textured locks, or naturally curly hair.

This is why popular Indian men’s hairstyles range as well.

Some prefer a looser, longer surfer vibe, while others prefer a more classic, buttoned-up look.

Today, we’re going over some excellent options. These styles suit Indian men, South Asian men, and those with dark, thick, and varied hair as well.

The Best Indian Men’s Hairstyles

The perfect hairstyle for you might not be perfect for someone else. That’s why I rounded a gamut of options, starting with some longer styles.

Let’s get to it.

Long Hairstyles for Indian Men

If you prefer a longer cut over a shorter one, you might consider the following styles:

Long and Wavy

A popular look among Bollywood stars and Indian sports stars, this style is a handsome, free-flowing look. It works best with straight hair or wavy hair. For the former, you’d just use hair product and/or a blow-dryer to get some beach waves in there.

If you want to do it with curly hair, you might need to take a straightener to your tresses.

Still, it’s a versatile, effortless look that goes well with any face shape. However, it best complements heart shapes.

Long Side-Swept

If you have thick, highly textured hair, a nice side-sweep might work for you. You’ll take the lion’s share of your hair and flip it over to one side. Use the product to make sure the dramatic hair part stays in place.

With thicker, coarser hair, this can add a dynamic silhouette to your face. It looks particularly good with a beard as it creates a structured frame around your face.

You’ll just tuck the remainder of the hair on the other side of your face behind your ear. Or, you can slick it back with some pomade.

And if your hair is long enough, you can even do a low man-bun.

Asymmetrical Long Side-Swept

Asymmetrical Side Swept

An asymmetrical side-sweep is just like the above style. However, you’ll do something different for the non-dominant side of the hair. That is, instead of slicking it back, you’ll buzz it completely.

You can incorporate a taper for a more gradual look. Or, you can do a no-transition fade for a more punk rock look.

Soft Curls

With soft curls, you can actually incorporate some gradual fringe for the front of your face. Unlike with stick-straight hair, it looks more effortless and less architectured, but still structured, albeit in a free-flowing kind of way.

I’d describe this Cherub-like look as youthful and soft.

If your hair has coarser, closer-to-scalp curls, you may need to use hair oil or a straightener to achieve this look. Again, because of its youthfulness, it wears naturally with oval or round faces.

Close Curls/Zoomer Perm

And speaking of coarser, closer curls, this look is actually trending among the youth. For extra thick, tight curls, feel free to shave the sides so that the tight curls fall a bit.

Depending on your hair’s texture, it may fall towards the front for a curly fringe. Or it may just haphazardly go all the way around, creating an almost mushroom effect.

This hairstyle isn’t for everyone, but if it’s your thing, it goes with most face shapes.

Short and Medium Hairstyles for Indian Men

If you prefer a more clean-cut look, here are some short and medium hairstyles.

The Buzzcut

Regardless of your hair texture, the buzzcut is a go-to for easy, low-maintenance style. It’s one of the most popular short haircuts for men and comes in several variations.

For example, a super-short army buzz works well for men with angular face shapes.

Meanwhile, the crew cut is like a buzzcut with a longer top. This works well for men with straight hair, whether it’s soft or textured. Add a slight side part to your crew cut to make it an Ivy League for an old-fashioned, wholesome look.

Quiff Hairstyles

Quiff hairstyles combine longer hair in the front with a trimmed back and sides. They’re universally flattering and work especially well with the dark, thick hair most Indian men have.

It’s similar to a ‘50s pompadour. However, a quiff is often airier, less dense, and can be combed and bundled to the side for a more natural look.

You can go for a short quiff, which is professional and elegant. Or, you can go for a taller quiff, which is striking and bold.

Short or Medium Side-Swept

Thick hair looks natural in a classic, short side part. There’s enough volume to add structure to your face, no matter your bone structure. And the part adds a neat and tidy element.

Go for this if you want a timeless and traditional look.

If you want to add a youthful remix to the look, pair it with a high-contrast fade.

Curly and Short

If you have tight curls, there are two ways to wear your curly hair short. You can just wear it tight to your scalp, which is also a popular and flattering style among African Americans.

Or you can cut the sides shorter and use the product to sculpt a side part to mimic the straight-hair side-sweep. Either choice provides a clean and classy aesthetic. Textured Brush-up with Taper

Textured Brush Up

If you’re lucky enough to have multi-textured hair, you can achieve this cool and dimensional look. It’s like a medium-length side-sweep. The taper on one side will exhibit the texture closer to your roots, while the fringe and sides will display another texture.

Usually, this means a softer look at the taper and a coarser, thicker look where you brush it up. Of course, you can also simulate this look if you don’t have naturally multi-textured hair.

Use a texturizer to achieve coarseness on the longer parts of your hair. Then, use a bit of hair oil and a blow dryer to make the short parts look fuzzier. Then, finally, use something like pomade or even gel for the sleeker, straighter parts.

Conclusion: Truly Diverse

Again, Indian men’s hairstyles boast a wide range.  That’s why they’re a great source of inspiration for all of us, regardless of our backgrounds!

As someone with thick, wavy hair, I know I can consider a few of these for myself.
